are 54-hour events where developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products and launch startups!
New Mexico's first Startup Weekend in Santa Fe
was a huge success the weekend of March 1-3 2013. Currently NM Tech Council, Startup Weekend, and GDG Albuquerque are planning one for Albuquerque this summer. Startup Weekend Albuquerque will happen on June 21st-23rd 2013 - location still in planning.
In addition to the Startup Weekend, there are also plans for a Bootcamp which is a developer only event and generally happens a few days before the Startup Weekend, or a week before. This Bootcamp event is meant so that developers may meet before the Startup Weekend, test ideas, and have a chance to work together beforehand. Plans for the bootcamp are coming together as happening June 1st-2nd in conjunction with National Day of Civic Hacking
. We will be there helping with connecting Civic data with Google Maps and Android
and holding a code-lab for most of the day June 1st.
Following the bootcamp and for SW - I would like to see a higher percentage of developers both pitching ideas and attending the main Startup Weekend event, so please do attend the Bootcamp.
GDG Albuquerque will be at both events this summer and we will continue working with NM Tech Council, Startup Weekend, and Google to make it an even better event than Santa Fe. At SW, GDG Albuquerque will be available for one on one help from team to team as we did in Santa Fe relating to Google technologies and others.
